Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Chrona ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Email address, name, and profile information when you create an account.
  • Calendar Data: Events, tasks, and scheduling information you create within the app.
  • Connected Calendars: If you connect your device calendar (Apple Calendar, or your phone calendar on Android) or a Google Calendar account, we copy events from the calendars you choose to our servers so they appear in Chrona, on your other devices and on your Apple Watch. This includes each event's title, description, location, link, time, time zone, recurrence, alerts and calendar name. You choose which calendars are included, and can turn any of them off.
  • Google Calendar Accounts: When you connect a Google account in Chrona, Google asks you to allow Chrona to see your Google account email address, see the list of your calendars, and view and edit events in them. We use the email address only to tell your connected accounts apart, the calendar list so you can choose which calendars to show, and event access to show those events (including the organizer, guests and your reply) and to save the changes you make in Chrona, such as creating, moving or deleting an event or answering an invitation. Section 7.2 explains how this data is protected.
  • Authentication Data: Information from Google or Apple Sign-In if you choose to use these services.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
  • Usage Data: How you interact with the app, features used, and crash reports.
  • Calendar Access: With your permission, we access your device calendar to sync events, as described under Connected Calendars above.
  • Time Zone: Your device's time zone, so recurring events, reminders and your Apple Watch follow your local time.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Sync your calendar data across devices
  • Send notifications and reminders you've configured
  • Process invitations and shared events
  • Provide AI-powered scheduling assistance
  • Respond to your requests and support inquiries
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:

  • Service Providers: Third-party companies that help us operate the Service (cloud hosting, analytics).
  • Other Users: When you share events or send invitations, recipients can see relevant event details.
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on servers with industry-standard encryption. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

The access tokens Google gives Chrona for a connected Google account are encrypted separately before they are stored, and are used only by our servers to sync that account. They are never sent to your devices.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access, update, or delete your personal information
  • Export your calendar data
  • Opt out of promotional communications
  • Revoke calendar access permissions at any time
  • Delete your account and all associated data

7. Third-Party Services

The Service may integrate with third-party services (Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In). These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

7.1 Third-Party AI Processors

Chrona's AI features (chat, voice calls and semantic search/memory) are only available after you explicitly consent, and use the following processors:

  • Google Gemini (text and images): When you use the AI chat assistant, your message text, any photos you attach and the event details needed to answer you (titles, times, locations, descriptions and notes) are sent to Google Gemini to generate a response and event suggestions. The assistant looks up only the events relevant to your request, such as a date range or a search, and these can include events from the Apple or phone calendars you have connected to Chrona. Events from Google accounts connected through Chrona's Google Calendar connection are never sent to AI processors (see 7.2). When you request AI link enrichment, the shared URL, page metadata and category/tag context are also sent to Google Gemini.
  • OpenAI (voice calls): Voice calls are handled by OpenAI's Realtime API, and only if you have accepted the AI consent that names OpenAI; without it, Chrona does not start a voice call (text chat keeps working). During a call, microphone audio, conversation context and relevant calendar details are sent to OpenAI to transcribe your speech and generate spoken replies. Voice call audio is no longer sent to Google Gemini. Chrona does not store microphone recordings; conversation text and calendar action results are saved in your history. You can mute or end a call at any time. OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models. It keeps that data for up to 30 days to detect and prevent abuse, unless longer retention is required by law, and does not store it for any other purpose. Unless Chrona has enabled OpenAI's European data residency, the data may be processed in the United States and other countries where OpenAI operates.
  • Google Maps Platform: When you ask the assistant to find a place, only the place search (for example a name and area) is sent to the Google Places API. If it is unavailable, the search is sent to Google Gemini with Google Maps grounding, and Google keeps that search for 30 days.
  • TypeSafe AI (Jev): For automatic category suggestions while you edit a new event or use the share sheet, the draft title and your category names and descriptions are sent to TypeSafe, a processor based in the United States. No account identifiers, conversation history or audio are sent. When Jev is unavailable, the same data is sent to Google Gemini instead. You can change or dismiss the suggestion before saving.
  • Voyage AI: Event titles, locations and other event/note text are sent to Voyage AI to generate search embeddings, which power semantic search and let the AI assistant recall relevant events and notes.

Google does not use your prompts or responses to improve its products under the paid Gemini API. Google keeps them for a limited period solely to detect and prevent abuse, and may process them in any country where Google or its agents have facilities.

This data is used only to process and respond to your own requests. Our processors do not use it to train shared or general-purpose AI models. Chrona opted out of Voyage AI's use of content for model training on October 9, 2026; text sent to Voyage before that date may remain subject to Voyage AI's terms. You can review or withdraw AI consent at any time in the app's Privacy & Data settings; withdrawing it stops future chat requests and new event embeddings. Active voice calls recheck consent and end when consent has been withdrawn.

7.2 Google User Data

Chrona's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular, Google Calendar data:

  • is used only to show, sync and edit your calendar within Chrona, on your devices and on your Apple Watch;
  • is not shared with the AI processors in section 7.1 or with any other third party, and is not used by Chrona's AI features;
  • is never sold, and never used for advertising;
  • is never used to train generalized AI or machine-learning models;
  • is not read by people, except with your consent, for security or abuse investigations, or where the law requires it.

You can disconnect a Google account in Chrona at any time (Calendars, then the account's settings). Disconnecting stops syncing, deletes Chrona's copies of that account's calendars and events, and revokes Chrona's access in your Google account. Notes and completed marks you added in Chrona are kept so they return if you connect the account again. Deleting your Chrona account deletes all of this data and revokes access to every connected Google account. Nothing is deleted from Google Calendar itself. You can also remove Chrona's access at any time in your Google Account's third-party connections.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
